Dr. A. Jay Burns practices in Dallas, Texas as a senior partner in Dallas Plastic Surgery Institute. He graduated from Baylor University magna cum laude and was honored as Outstanding Junior Alumni of Baylor University in 1994. Dr. Burns graduated with honors (AOA) from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. He completed an internship and residency in general surgery at the University of Utah Affiliated Hospitals in Salt Lake City followed by a residency in plastic surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. He then went on to complete specialty training in vascular anomalies and birthmarks at Harvard Affiliated Hospitals. He is board certified in plastic and reconstructive surgery.Dr. Burns is a noted national and international speaker and authority on lasers, high tech surgical and non-surgical applications, cosmetic surgery, vascular anomalies, and birthmarks. He is founder of the Vascular Anomalies and Birthmark Clinic in Dallas, TX. Dr. Burns has been a member of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery since 1992. He has served, and continues to serve, the society in many positions, highlighted by his presidency in 2006-2007. Dr. Burns is also a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, Inc., and the American Association of Plastic Surgeons. He has been a national spokesperson for both societies and served as Traveling Professor for the Aesthetic Society for the years 2001 to 2003. In addition, he is also a member of the American College of Surgeons, the Dallas Society of Plastic Surgeons and the Texas Society of Plastic Surgeons. He speaks regularly on television and radio and has been quoted in many national, state, and local publications such as D Magazine, Texas Monthly, The Washington Post, Readers Digest, Self, Family Circle, Better Homes and Gardens, Allure and Elle. He has been voted numerous times by his peers to both D Magazine’s “Best Doctors” and Texas Monthly’s “Texas Super Doctors”. He was featured on the Oprah Winfrey “Medical Miracles” show. Dr. Burns and his wife, Ginny, have two children, and two grandchildren. Dr. Burns is enthusiastically involved with his family and Watermark Community Church He strives daily to be a more fully devoted follower of Jesus Christ. He and his wife lead a ministry helping families dealing with prodigal or wayward children. His hobbies include bow hunting, golf, and video editing.
