Wendy E. Roberts, MD, FAAD
Dr. Wendy E. Roberts is Board Certified in Dermatology and Dermatopathology. She is a graduate of Stanford Medical School with three post graduate degrees, which include Surgery, Dermatology and Dermatopathology. She alone, pioneered and developed Generational Dermatology™ which has become a national meeting venue. Following Surgical and Dermatology residencies and a Pathology Fellowship, Dr. Roberts became the Founding Director of Dermatopathology at the Dermatology Division of Loma Linda Medical Center.
Dr. Roberts has developed a groundbreaking skin type classification system. ”The Roberts Skin Type Classification System©” which is used internationally to identify and communicate important medical safety details regarding all skin color types undergoing procedural dermatology and surgery. This inspired a nationally televised, first of its’ kind, ‘skin health’ program, entitled “America’s Ethnic Skin.” As a Key opinion leader Dr. Roberts has also been actively involved in the development and launch of many Dermatologic products including the Clarisonic™ brush by L’Oreal and Moisturerinse™ by Proctor & Gamble.
Dr. Roberts has been voted by her medical colleagues as Palm Springs Top Doctor for eleven consecutive years since 2005. In 2004, as a member of the Women’s Dermatologic Society (WDS), Dr. Roberts founded a national outreach skin cancer screening program called “Play Safe in the Sun” which travels to LPGA, USTA, Susan B. Komen and other sporting events and venues to provide free Sun Safety education and skin cancer screenings.
Dr. Roberts is a Past-President of the Women’s Dermatologic Society (2009-2010) and also a Past-President of the State of California Dermatologic Society (Calderm). As a member of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), Dr. Roberts has served on numerous committees including the 2008 American Academy of Dermatology Nominating Committee, and Organizational Structure. She was also appointed to the Stanford University Medical Alumnae Board of Governors. She is a member of the American Dermatological Association in 2013.
Dr. Roberts is frequently featured in the national television and print media, including The Today Show, CNN, CBS, NBC, O-The Oprah Magazine, Ebony, New Beauty, Self, Allure, Essence, Prevention, Readers Digest, Golf Digest, XM radio and the Los Angeles Times. Dr. Roberts was named “Rockstar Dermatologist” by Glamour magazine and penned “The Youth Booster.” She is also the author of numerous published articles and textbook chapters.
She was Chair of the Geriatric session at the World Congress of Dermatology in Vancouver 2015. Embraced by the specialty for her innovation and energy Dr. Roberts will receive the President’s Award by The American Academy of Dermatology in March 2017 for founding & increasing awareness of Generational Dermatology.
Dr. Roberts’ personal practice motto is “Leave no stone unturned until the solution for a specific skin problem is found.”
