Summer Bootcamp Faculty Ava Shamban

Dr. Ava Shamban is a board-certified dermatologist who believes that appearance and self-esteem are one and the same. She is currently a member of the ASDS, the AAD, and serves on the editorial board for The Journal of Clinical and Aesthetic Dermatology. In addition to her practices in Santa Monica and Beverly Hills, Dr. Ava was also an Assistant Clinical Professor of Dermatology at the UCLA-Geffen School of Medicine.

Dr. Sherman has been performing eyelid surgery for over twenty years. She is recognized as a top plastic surgeon for eyes and is often invited to teach her innovative approaches to her colleagues at national meetings. She has also been invited overseas to teach these advanced cosmetic techniques to surgeons throughout Russia and China.



Ken Beer is a board certified dermatologist specializing in Cosmetic Bootcamp offers preceptorship opportunities in Aesthetic Medicine Training and is the co-founder of Cosmetic Bootcamp for core aesthetic specialties

Dr. Beer is a board-certified dermatologist and dermatopathologist focused on general, surgical, and aesthetic dermatology. Although his decades of experience have given him practice with many “ologies”, today he is considered to be one of the leading experts in dermatology and facial rejuvenation. Dr. Beer is a founder of Cosmetic Bootcamp, a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, and is a Clinical Professor of Dermatology at the University of Miami.

Diane S. Berson is an Associate Professor of Dermatology at Weill Medical College of Cornell University and an Assistant Attending Dermatologist at the New York-Presbyterian Hospital. She has a private dermatology practice in NYC focused on medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology and cutaneous oncology.

Dr. Downie is a sought-after lecturer and author of several dozen scientific papers. She has spoken on behalf of some of the most renowned medical societies, including the American Academy of Dermatology, The Skin Cancer Foundation, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, and the Women’s Dermatologic Society. Topics on which she speaks with expertise include photoaging, skin cancer, cosmeceuticals and injectables, cosmetic dermatology, skin of color, and sun protection. She has also participated in numerous clinical trials for some of the top pharmaceutical companies. With a passion for education, Dr. Downie proudly services as an educator for the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery. She has also provided focused training on injectibles and fillers and has been a longstanding faculty member on Allergan’s National Exchange Forum in which techniques are discussed.

Dr. Steven Fagien is one of the foremost oculoplastic surgeons in the United States and the world. He completed his medical training at the University of Florida and a fellowship in oculoplastic surgery at the University of Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary. He has authored over 350 publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals, served on the editorial board of the Journal of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery and penned his own bestselling textbook on Cosmetic Oculoplastic Surgery. Dr. Fagien is an internationally recognized world authority in aesthetic eyelid surgery and cosmetic injectable treatments and he has been featured in Vogue, Allure, New Beauty, The New York Times, and W magazine.

Julius W. Few, MD s board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He served as Assistant and Associate Professor in the Division of Plastic Surgery at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, and as Developer and Director at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, Aesthetic and Breast Fellowship, He is currently Founder of The Few Institute For Aesthetic Plastic Surgery in Chicago and New York and as a Clinical Associate in the Division of Plastic Surgery at the University of Chicago.

Paul M. Friedman, M.D., board-certified by the American Board of Dermatology, is the director of Dermatology & Laser Surgery Center of Houston, Texas, and also practices at the Laser & Skin Surgery Center of New York. He was educated in dermatology at the New York University School of Medicine where he served as chief resident and was twice awarded the prestigious Husik Prize for his research in dermatologic surgery. He completed a one-year fellowship in dermatologic laser surgery and Mohs micrographic surgery & cutaneous oncology at the Laser & Skin Surgery Center of New York and was the recipient of the Young Investigator’s Writing Competition Award of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. Dr. Friedman is a clinical assistant professor at the University of Texas Medical School, department of dermatology, and a clinical assistant professor of dermatology at the Weill Cornell Medical College, Houston Methodist Hospital. He is also on staff at Texas Children’s Hospital and Memorial-Hermann Hospital-Texas Medical Center.

Michelle Henry, MD, leads the team of dedicated providers at Skin & Aesthetic Surgery. As a board-certified dermatologist and an ACGME fellowship-trained Mohs micrographic, reconstructive, and cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Henry is well-equipped to provide patients with the highest level of care. Along with her team of dedicated providers, she delivers individualized care with a holistic approach and tends to her patients’ well-being by treating them like family.

Board-certified in dermatology, Dr. Jones completed his dermatology Residency in 1997 at Columbia University in New York, where he served as Chief Resident. In 1999 he founded Skin Care and Laser Physicians of Beverly Hills where he is the Director. Dr. Jones was Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of California in Los Angeles from 1999 to 2017 and is an internationally regarded key opinion leader and researcher in minimally invasive facial aesthetics. He is a frequently invited speaker at prestigious dermatology meetings and has delivered over 300 scholarly lectures.

Dr. Suzanne Linsmeier Kilmer is the Founder of the Laser & Skin Surgery Center of Northern California, Clinical Professor at the University of California, Davis and past president of ASLMS. She completed her M.D. degree and dermatology residency at U.C. Davis Medical Center, then moved East for a laser surgery fellowship at Harvard Medical School’s Wellman Laboratories of Photomedicine. Widely published and on numerous medical advisory boards, Dr. Kilmer has served on the Board of Directors for ASDS and ASLMS, as well as former President and current Secretary for ASLMS. She was honored to be the 2008 Sturge-Weber Foundation roastee, the 2009 recipient of the prestigious ASLMS Ellet Drake lectureship award and the ASDS 2014 Iron Surgeon. Dr. Kilmer was the recipient of three awards in 2020, including the Vic Narurkar MD, Innovations in Aesthetic Dermatology Lectureship. She also received the prestigious Leon Goldman and Caroline & William Mark Memorial Awards for longitudinal excellence throughout her career from ASLMS, marking the first time a doctor has ever received both awards in one year.

Mary Lupo is a specialist in Aesthetic Medicine Training and the co-founder of Cosmetic Bootcamp for core aesthetic specialties

Dr. Lupo revolutionized the field of non-surgical skin rejuvenation by introducing new combinations of procedures. On top of being a board-certified dermatologist, Dr. Lupo is also a clinical professor of dermatology at Tulane University School of Medicine, fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, and founder of Cosmetic Bootcamp.

As the former Director of Cutaneous Oncology at the Beth Israel Cancer Center in Manhattan, Dr. Mariwalla specializes in skin cancer detection and treatment. Dr. Mariwalla is an expert in facial reconstruction, and a skilled surgeon, as well as thoughtful aesthetic clinician. If you feel you have a mole that has changed or have had a lot of sun exposure (especially from the South Shore of Long Island!) then Mariwalla Dermatology should be a part of your overall health routine.

Dr. Melson graduated from the University of Virginia School of Medicine then completed his Ophthalmology residency at Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary in Boston. After his general ophthalmology training, Dr. Melson completed subspecialty fellowship training in oculoplastic, orbital and cosmetic surgery at the Emory Eye Center in Atlanta, Georgia. He then moved to Nashville to join the faculty at Vanderbilt University where he held dual appointments as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology and an Assistant Professor of Medicine (Dermatology). He was also an attending oculoplastic surgeon at the Nashville Veteran Affairs Medical Center. While at Vanderbilt, he served as the Director of Medical Student Education for the Department of Ophthalmology and was actively involved in resident education. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and lectured locally, nationally and internationally. While at Vanderbilt, he served as the Assistant Team Ophthalmologist for the Nashville Predators Hockey franchise.

Dr. Montes is an established master injector being recognized among the nations’ top injectors. In 2016, he received an Achievement Award as well as a Continuing Education Recognition from the American Academy of Ophthalmology. As a Professor of the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine, Dr. Montes has been mentoring students at the Río Piedras Medical Center.

Ivona Percec, MD, Ph.D. is Associate Director, Cosmetic Surgery and Assistant Professor of Surgery. Dr. Percec is board certified in Plastic Surgery and sees patients at Penn Plastic Surgery Perelman, Penn Plastic Surgery Tuttleman Center, and Penn Plastic Surgery Bryn Mawr.

Dr. Rod J. Rohrich is an internationally known, highly respected, and skilled plastic surgeon with a global clinical practice at Dallas Plastic Surgery Institute in Dallas, Texas. He is also a Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery at the Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Rohrich has been honored by his peers to be one of the most influential physicians and plastic surgeons in this current era.

Dr. Sunder studied at Johns Hopkins University and continued her medical education at Cornell Medical College. In addition to earning her medical degree, she spent years doing extensive research, and published several articles in leading scientific journals. Her academic excellence took her to an elite residency program at Stanford University culminating with her serving as Chief Resident. During her residency, she trained under the mentorship of a pioneer in Rhinoplasty who is a former president of both the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery and the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. Sunder was able to merge her artistic ability with her passion for medicine when she was accepted to a prestigious fellowship accredited by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. She trained under an internationally renowned facial plastic surgeon and past president of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Dr. Zeidler received her Bachelor of Arts degree in biology from Rice University in Houston, Texas. She earned her Doctor of Medicine Degree at University of California, San Francisco, one of the top five medical schools in the country. Dr. Zeidler graduated at the top 5% of her class, earning her a membership into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha honor society.
